The 2025 South One Awards presentation took place on 22nd June.
Having decided that nothing brings together a community better than "a good old brew" a repeat of the 2024-style Afternoon Tea was deployed. This time, however, trading a "bijou Bloom Room" (otherwise known as a Garden Centre) for the Garden Suite at Gorse Hill Country House Hotel in leafy Surrey. Adorned in the South region's "team colour" orange, and the sun dutifully shining, the stage was set for our guests.

The ONE Awards are a series of events delivered by Regional Netball Boards (groups of volunteers who support the delivery of community netball) and England Netball to recognise and celebrate the amazing people who volunteer and make netball happen, through varying roles like officiating, coaching, administration, supporting school netball activity, clubs and local leagues, or helping drive inclusion and reaching new audiences in netball. There are 10 categories that will be considered at a regional level* with nominees required to be an individual member of England Netball for all awards apart from the Inclusion Award:

The room was full of many incredible people with inspirational stories. A new "loveable rogue" emerged from the day; Sammy Vine. Her crime - just being too fabulous! She was nominated across 5 of the award categories, managing to rise victorious for two (we will note at this point, that all nomations are anonymised and reviewed by a panel of 7 judges)!
There was another special story over on Table 9. They had a "threemendous" success with three members of the same family all winner their respective categories!

Thank you to everyone involved in making the event a success. From everyone who took the time to nominated someone, all the volunteers that inspired us to recognise them. The Gorse Hill staff, our fantastics host duo of Lindsay Sartori and Phyllis Avery MBE and the Netbal South Regional Management Board. It was a privilege to organise this event for the incredible volunteers in the Region. Not only do they facilitate netball in all aspects, but they invest their time, energy and enthusiasm to ensure that the sport is enjoyable and accessible to all. THANK YOU!
I'm sure you will join us in congratulating all the nominees and sending best wishes to our Regional winners who will all be invited to attend the National One Awards on 18th October (venue tbc).
If you attended the event, we would love to hear your feedback to help us plan the best possible event for 2026! We invite you to complete this survey by 31st July.
