Excel Pathway

The South is very pleased to be able to boast a solid and thorough Talent ID and development programme. The aim is to support talented athletes within the region, helping them to reach their potential and hopefully progress along the pathway. Jan Crabtree (Regional Talent Coach) and Sue Baldwin (Head Scout) work closely with the Counties and Netball Development Officers to ensure that all players within the region have the opportunity to access the programme.

The programme provides:

• an athlete centred approach
• emphasis on training and match play - not competition
• based on scientific principles of training
• flexible age banding in accordance to maturation
• quality coaching
• appropriate qualifications and expertise
• skill based programmes
• based upon the Netball Excel Guidelines
