Time to Listen Courses
The next Time To Listen course in the South region is on Thursday 22nd September 2011, 6.30-9.30pm at Kingsmead Netball Centre, High Wycombe.

Time to Listen is a 3 hour workshop developed by the Child Protection in Sport Unit specifically for Club Safeguarding Officers. The workshop has been adapted for netball and uses practical examples and case studies to enable you to fully understand your role in the club and England Netball and how you can effectively safeguard young people in your care.
The workshop includes the following areas:
* What is an aware club
* Involving young people
* Legislation and government guidance and how it relates to your role and England Netball
* The roles and responsibilities of key people in the safeguarding process including your role as a Club Safeguarding Officer
* England Netball's reporting procedures
* How to develop best practice in your club
* How England Netball can support you and your club in safeguarding
The course is aimed at Club Safeguarding Officers only and you must have already attended a Sportscoach Uk Safeguarding and Protecting Children course (or equivalent) as Time to Listen builds on this prior learning.
Every delegate will receive the following:
* England Netball 'Be Safe Good Practice' in Safeguarding Resource with all supporting EN policeis
* CPSU Time to Listen Course Booklet
* Time to Listen Poster
* An attendance certificate
The course is free to attend but we do ask that you pay a £30 deposit to secure your place. This will be refunded after the course.

Besafe Email
England Netball's besafe email is now active - besafe@englandnetball.co.uk. This is specifically for anyone involved in Netball to use should they wish to report a concern about the welfare of a child in Netball. It can also be used to report concerns about the behaviour of a coach, official or other staff member/volunteer towards a child in Netball.
Any messages sent to this address will be received by England Netball's independent child protection consultant and monitored by their Lead Child Protection Officer. If you wish to speak to the Lead Child Protection Officer please phone 07595 863 991.
NSPCC and Childline
The NSPCC and ChildLine both operate 24 hour freephone helplines. For urgent enquiries please phone the NSPCC (0808 800 5000) or Child Line (0800 1111).

The Department for Culture Media and Sport, in conjunction with Sport England, NSPCC (Child Protection in Sport Unit) and Department for Children, Schools and Families, has produced a new child protection leaflet aimed at parents. Parents are encouraged to ask the appropriate questions when considering a sport/club for their children e.g. Does the club have a Child Protection Policy? Does the club do Criminal Record Bureau checks? Is the Club Accredited?
