School Competitions

National Schools Regional Round

The organisers were extremely pleased to see all the entered schools arriving for the regional round of the National Schools Championships at Kingsmead Netball Centre, High Wycombe on Saturday January 19th. We were hoping for a lull in the rainy weather which had been forecast, but it rarely let up all day. Congratulations go to the teams for not only producing some great and skillful netball in such difficult conditions but also for showing their cheerful spirit throughout.

It was also good to see some new teams coming through, as well as some of the more regular qualifiers, confirming that schools in the South Region are still encouraging and supporting Netball as their No. 1 sport.

Beaconsfield High School (Bucks) had their most successful year to date with finalists in all three age groups but it was Taunton College (Hants) who gained the upper hand in the U19's final and called a halt to Beaconsfield High making a clean sweep. Hurstpierpoint (Sussex) beat Beaconsfield by 14 goals to 10 and King Edward VI (Hants) came very worthy runners-up in U16's group. Netball South send all the teams our warmest congratulations and hope they do well at the Nationals in Bournemouth on the 15th March 2008.

Our thanks must also go to the Umpires and the Umpire Co-ordinators who worked so hard under terrible weather conditions - the scorers, timekeepers and officials. Last but not least to Kingsmead Netball Centre and their catering staff - their hot soup was wonderful...!

Lost Property

I have 1 small size blue sweatshirt / 2 pairs of trouser bottoms and there has been a request for everyone to check their ball bags please...there is a MITRE Netball missing - which was brand new - never used and was only waiting for the coach to write their school name on it. I would appreciate it if you could all check please that you haven't accidentally picked it up by mistake.
