Coaching Workshop March 2nd Application Form
35 coaches attending this workshop organised by the Coaching Technical Support Group and it was targeted for Level 2 and higher coaches in the South. Jan generated a relaxed atmosphere which all the coaches responded to with lots od discussions taking place and everyone helping one another.
The morning session was 'Changing Drills into Practices'. Jan gave everyone some ideas and then the coaches had to go away and come up with their own and demonstrate them. The good thing about the practice was that it makes the players have to think for themselves. Jan stressed that drills shouldn't be thrown out as they do have a role to play.
The middle session was Jan giving the coaches an insight into how she prepares for a Sperleague/Premier League fixture. Although this wasn't relevant to most of the coaches in their everyday environment, it was somethingfor them all to take away and think about. It covered topics such as When do you arrive, When and what do your players eat, What statistics to take, the importance of a Team Manager.
The afternoon session was built around the the attacking circle. What the shooters can do and what the defence can then do and what the shooters can do to counteract what the defence are doing. It was all practices that Jan delivered which gave the coaches lots of ideas to take away and expand on.
Peter Carter stated that all in all it was a most enjoyable and successful day. Jan was briliant and has started the ball rolling in the best possible way for us to plan some more workshops.
